LAKE WALES COUNTRY CLUB 

Lake Wales Country Club was founded in the early 1920’s and was owned by the City of Lake Wales.  The course was designed by the world famous “grandfather” of American golf course architect, Donald Ross.

  During World War II, the Country Club was sold to stockholder Country Cub members.  The club grew and functioned under membership owned management until it was sold to Ben Hill Griffin, Inc. in 1980.  Mr. Ben Hill Griffin, Jr. had been associated with the Lake Wales Country Club since the early 1920’s.  Mr. Griffin was a caddy at the Country Club during his high school years.  He was a longtime supporter and member of the club.  The annual Ben Hill Griffin Invitational Golf Tournament has been the high point of the Club’s golfing and social calendar for over thirty years.

Under the Griffin ownership, the Club has grown and improved at a fast rate.  Some improvements are, new facilities and equipment, the development of LUXURY CONDOMINIUMS, HOMES, lakes, stunning landscaping designs. Located only a few miles from the highest elevation in Florida, this 6,840 yard gem of a golf course is an 18 hole par 72 course, with 2 practice greens, a driving range and 5 sets of tees.  The Country Club is managed with great precision by PGA Master Professional and General Manager, Bob Forward.

Lake Wales Country Club also offers tennis on 4 newly conditioned clay courts. Night Tennis, Clinics, and Leagues under the Director of Tennis, Joe Hignight

Historically, with the help of our members and staff, Lake Wales Country Club has become an important part of the Lake Wales community.
